About the National Center for Adoption Law & Policy
The Family and Youth Law Center seeks to improve the law, policies, and practices associated with child protection and adoption systems. Every day we work towards realizing the goal that all children -- especially those who have been abused or neglected or are dependent on the state for their care -- have safe, healthy, permanent homes. Our primary tools in this regard are education, advocacy, and research.
FYLaw supports the development and implementation of effective laws, policies and multi-disciplinary practices that advance our goals. Over the past decade, FYLaw has evolved from a clearinghouse of adoption law information to a multi-faceted training, research, resource and advocacy center for child protection issues. Our unique position within the university community provides us the rare ability to take innovative research models and put them into practice while simultaneously infusing the challenges of real-world practice into education. Recently awarded the Outstanding Organization Award by the Ohio State Bar Foundation and named an Angel in Adoption by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, the Center is a change agent for system-wide issues that create barriers to safe, stable homes for all children.
